For newlyweds Carl and Molly, things can’t get much better as they embark on their new life together. They’ve got the house, good jobs, and the only thing missing from this perfect picture is a couple of kids. Little do they know, the stork might be making an unexpected delivery when Carl’s best friend, Dupree, needs a place to stay.
After being kicked out of his house and simultaneously jobless, Carl can’t help but offer his couch to his best pal. After all, it’s only for a few days, just until he gets back on his feet, right? Dupree promises to begin looking for a job the very next day, and Carl convinces a skeptic wife the situation is extremely temporary.
Almost immediately Dupree is crossing boundaries and invading the couple’s intimacy. As Carl tries to talk his way out of Dupree’s shenanigans, Dupree continues creating them. If he’s not hosting hazardous dates with the local librarian or playing street hockey with the neighborhood kids, he’s turning down a job because they don’t get Columbus Day off.
But, as time continues the tables begin to turn. Molly is no longer complaining about Dupree, but starting to enjoy his company. Now Carl is fed up because not only is Dupree winning the affection of his wife, but also is sweeping someone else off their feet; Molly’s father, whom Carl has been trying to gain approval from for years.
Despite his flaws, if there’s one thing Dupree does right, it’s cook up some awesome nacho cheese sauce. Try it for yourself and enjoy.
