Flor Moreno is a young woman from Mexico seeking a better life for her and her daughter. She has an idealistic image of life in America as well as the typical American family. They immigrate to America where Flor begins work as a maid for the Claskys, a dysfunctional family that contradicts her beliefs and values.

John Clasky is a successful chef who has given his family an upscale lifestyle. He is a devoted father and an all around “good guy.” His wife, Deborah Clasky, is an insensitive and success-driven woman who neglects the needs of her husband and children. She’s all about self-improvement and has made herself her number one priority. Because of her self-obsession, the couple has grown distant and John rethinks his life choices.

When asked to stay for the summer at their summer home in Malibu, Flor has no choice but to bring her daughter, Cristina. Ignoring the feelings of her own daughter, Deborah begins to take a liking to Cristina, treating her as if she were her own. Deborah’s daughter becomes increasingly jealous, and Flor angry, since she feels that Deborah is teaching her daughter to value the wrong things.

Despite the language barrier, John feels a special connection with Flor and sees what he is missing in married life. The two grow closer as Deborah’s insecurities continue to inflate her selfish behavior.

So check out Spanglish and see what happens when cultures collide. And watch Adam Sandler create an egg sandwich that’s to die for. It won’t be long before you try it for yourself.
