VEAL PARMIGIANA RECIPE by Chiara Tarenzi.

What do you get if you have Martin Scorsese, Nicholas Pileggi, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta in the same room? The best mob movie ever (according to us and pretty much anyone who saw it and was never the same again)!

The “Goodfellas” is one of the most realistic expressions of the mafia in the 1970s in New York. It describes in detail the entering of a new member in the Lucchese crime family, without leaving out a single step. The entire story is placed in an Italian frame, including belligerent behaviors, thunderous arguments, scotch & wine and lots of food. Mafia is not an easy world to live in and, in no time, it is able to tangle up even the strongest and most independent criminals. There is no safe emergency exit for anyone. So the only thing left to do is to try to establish real and firm relationships and take advantage of the numerous privileges on the agenda. There’s only one rule: trust and dependence.

What do Mafiosi do best? Scheme, kill and cook. The Italian heritage doesn’t fade away across the Atlantic ocean. The traditions and techniques follow the gangsters to prison too. In fact, their cell takes form of a small apartment where they receive daily deliveries of fresh typical Italian food. Quality is fundamental!

So don’t be intimidated by their outstanding persuasive skills and just give in. Give in to the appetizing Veal Parmigiana and you will be one of them. But remember: “Never rat on your friends, and always keep your mouth shut”.
